On the qwertykeyboard an ancient sign resides, right between & and (, U and F9, I and F8 :
*.
This 5,000 year old Kiengiric writing sign was -and still is- named AN and meant  Sky,Heaven,
Grain ear, Date spadix ( fleshy spike of tiny flowers -hm....so AN could be called a spike-sign)
In short : the origin of * is *.
Meaning sky or cluster of small flowers.



(The people who lived in the region Kiengir, were called Sumerûm by their neighbours, the
Akkadians, and that is the name they became known by.
The Kiengirics called their language Emegir, Eme : tongue, language)
